Two Lady Flames received Big South honors today, as J'nae Jefferson was named the Big South Choice Hotels Softball Player of the Week, while Kat Johnson has been named The Crons Brand Pitcher of the Week for games played the final week of the regular season.

Jefferson, a senior from Barboursville, W.Va., posted a .600 batting average with a double, two home runs, five runs scored and five RBIs as the Lady Flames swept a three-game series against Coastal Carolina. On Senior Day, she went 3-for-4 with a double, home run and four RBIs. Her three-run homer in the second inning made it 3-2 and gave the Lady Flames the lead for good. She is currently on a six-game hitting streak, batting .545 during the span. The honor marks Jefferson's second Player of the Week honor this season, as she also won the award on April 5.

Johnson, a freshman from Levelland, Texas, picked up all three wins against Coastal Carolina last weekend, posting a 0.93 ERA and striking out 10 batters in 15 innings of work. The righty threw a five-hit, complete game shutout to open the series with three strikeouts. Johnson came back in game two of the doubleheader to pick up a relief win. She stranded two runners in the top half of the eighth inning as Liberty went on to win in the bottom half. She went the distance again in game three, allowing two runs on four hits, while striking out seven.

The Lady Flames depart Lynchburg on Wednesday morning bound for Conway, S.C., where No. 2 Liberty will compete in the 2010 Big South Softball Championships. The Lady Flames will face No. 7 Presbyterian in the first round on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
