The Liberty women's lacrosse team (1-10, 1-4 NLC) returns to the field on Saturday for its final regular-season contest of the 2010 campaign, taking on fellow National Lacrosse Conference (NLC) competitor Davidson (6-8, 4-1 NLC). Liberty's conference clash concludes a trio of NLC contests to close out its regular season. The opening draw at Davidson's Richardson Stadium is slated for 1 p.m.
The Lady Flames are coming off a loss to Presbyterian last Saturday, falling to the Blue Hose, 17-3. Attacker Kristin Crowley netted a pair of goals in the contest, followed by a marker from midfielder Sierra Clearwater to round out Liberty's point total.
Heading into Saturday's matchup, Crowley is leading the Lady Flames' offense this season with 22 goals. The Colorado Springs, Colo., native has garnered success from the eight-meter mark this season, netting 7-of-15 shots from the free position. Along with goals, the sophomore is also leading the Lady Flames in assists (3) and draw controls (26).
The Lady Flames currently own a shot-on-goal percentage of .778 (144-of-185) and a shot percentage of .360, finding the net on 65-of-185 shot attempts. Through 11 contests this season, Liberty has garnered more offensive success in the second period, netting 35 of its 65 goals in the latter stanza. On the defensive end, senior Rebekah Luetters steps into the net for the Lady Flames this Saturday. The goalie currently has 101 saves on the season and leads the team in ground balls with 47.
Davidson enters its contest versus Liberty in the No. 2 spot in the conference standings with a 4-1 mark in NLC action. The Wildcats are coming off a road loss to Patriot League member American, dropping the contest in the nation's capital, 10-4, this past Sunday.
The Wildcats currently own a shot percentage of .441 (158-of-358) and a shot-on-goal percentage of .760 (272-of-358). Jen Crawford is pacing Davidson in goals with 35 on the season, and is also the Wildcats' co-leader in assists along with Alanna Parker, with nine apiece. Goalie Michelle Pav currently has 115 saves on the season and leads the team in groundballs on the year with 38.
