Liberty Has Win Streak Snapped
The Flames drop to 11-8 overall in duals. Despite the setback, Liberty has won eight of its last 10 matches. William & Mary moves to 18-9 overall.
The host Tribe took a 1-0 lead, with two victories in doubles. After William & Mary won the No. 1 doubles contest, Liberty's Juan Reyes and Louis Steyn evened the doubles at a match apiece, with an 8-6 win over Varun Pandit and Richard Wardell at No. 3. With the victory, the duo remained unbeaten with a 10-0 record. However, the Tribe captured the No. 2 match-up to claim the point.
In singles, William & Mary won the No. 2 and No. 6 contests to extend their advantage to 3-0. Liberty closed the gap to 3-2 with wins in the next two match-ups to be completed. Flame Siim Tuus won his second straight contest at No. 1, downing Keziel Juneau, 6-3, 6-4. Chad Simpson followed with his third consecutive win at No. 5, 7-6, 6-2.
The Tribe closed out the Flames with a victory at No. 3, and added the final singles contest at No. 4 for the final score of 5-2. Liberty's Louis Steyn, who entered his No. 4 contest with eight straight wins, saw the streak snapped by Adrian Vodislav, 7-6 (3), 6-4.
