WLAX Preview: UC Davis
Liberty played its first home game in the program's young history on Saturday, hosting NJCAA Division I member Anne Arundel at Osborne Stadium. The Lady Flames netted seven goals on the evening, but were unable to stop the persistent Pioneers, dropping the contest, 17-7. Sophomore midfielder Chloe McIntosh led the Lady Flames in scoring with two goals. Goalie Rebekah Leutters recorded 10 saves in the contest and a season-high nine groundballs.
The Aggies enter Monday's contest with a 5-1 record on the season, after defeating NLC competitor Detroit Mercy on March 13, 18-6. Junior midfielder Gina Hoffmire paced UC Davis in the win at Aggie Stadium with six goals and three assists, while senior Molly Lapolla chipped in a hat trick.
UC Davis currently holds a shot percentage of .490 (95-of-194) and a shot-on-goal percentage of .804 (156-of-194). The Aggies have reached the offensive third at a clip of .806, successfully clearing the ball on 87-of-108 attempts.
Freshman attacker Lauren See leads the Lady Flames in goals with 10 on the season, followed by sophomore attacker Kristin Crowley, who has nine markers. Goalie Rebekah Leutters, who has 44 saves this season is also leading the team in ground balls with 16. Junior Anna Starling has forced the most miscues on the year, with five caused turnovers.
The Lady Flames currently own a shot-on-goal percentage of .780 (71-of-91) and a shot percentage of .418, finding the net on 38-of-91 shot attempts. Through its first five games this season, Liberty has garnered more offensive success in the second period, netting 21 of its 38 goals in the latter stanza.
