With their first contest now under their belt, the Lady Flames return to the lacrosse field on Saturday to take on Howard in Washington, D.C., at 3 p.m. The contest in the nation's capital marks the second in a pair of National Lacrosse Conference matchups to open the season.

Both competitors enter the weekend looking for their first win of the season. The Lady Flames are 0-1 after dropping their opener to Longwood (21-3) on Wednesday, while Howard is 0-4, falling to Navy (24-2), Mount St. Mary's (21-1), St. Francis (Pa.) (17-4) and Frostburg State (17-13).

In Liberty's contest against Longwood, attacker Kristin Crowley netted two goals. The first occurred in the opening 31 seconds, with the sophomore finding the net unassisted. Crowley recorded her second tally before the close of the opening period, capitalizing on a free position attempt. Fellow attacker Lauren See also posted an 8-meter marker in the matchup with Longwood, scoring from the free position with 7:07 remaining in the contest.

Through four contests, Howard's Desiree Cox headlines the Bison's offensive attack with 10 goals on the season. The junior attacker from Hendersonville, Tenn., is also the team's leader in total shots with 35 (.286) and shots on goal with 28 (.800).

When examining the numbers, Howard tends to come out more aggressive in the first period, scoring 60 percent of its goals (12-of-20) this season in the opening 30 minutes. The Bison's goalkeeping numbers are also better during that span, with 17-of-27 saves occurring in the first period.
