Liberty Defeats Averett, 6-1

The Liberty Flames men's tennis team defeated Averett, 6-1, Sunday afternoon at the Liberty Tennis Courts.

Liberty, now 3-5, swept the doubles competition. Siim Tuus and Tristan Stayt took an 8-3 victory over Xavier Ruiz and Kirill Orlov at No. 1. Giancarlo Lemmi and Monte Tiller defeated David Lembke and Bruno Faidutti, 8-3, in the No. 2 spot. Ben Wirth and Louis Steyn completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 victory over Perry Bason and John Thrower.

In singles, the Flames captured five of the six singles contests. Liberty dropped the No. 3 match-up due to a player retiring due to injury. Tuus, Stayt, Simpson, Wirth and Reyes were all victors for Liberty in singles.

The Flames begin Big South Conference matches next weekend, when they visit Coastal Carolina Saturday. Match time is 2 p.m.
