Coach's Corner with Jesse Castro
Following nearly two weeks off after competition at the Virginia Duals, LibertyFlames.com reporter Nick Pierce sat down with head wrestling coach Jesse Castro earlier today for another edition of Coach's Corner.
During today's segment, Castro reviewed Liberty's run at the 30th annual Virginia Duals, which featured one of the strongest fields in the event's history. Liberty squared off against two of the nine Top 25 programs in the 16-team national collegiate field with matchups against No. 4 Oklahoma State and No. 23 Old Dominion.
Liberty dropped all three of its duals at the event, including setbacks to the Cowboys (36-6), the Monarchs (27-6) and a closing loss at the hands of Drexel (24-11).
With the Duals behind them, the Flames have spent the last two weeks preparing for their next matchup, wherer they will host Bucknell on Saturday afternoon inside the Vines Center.
The dual event, which starts at 3 p.m., will be the first of four home matches remaining on Liberty's 2009-10 regular season slate.
The Bison comes into the match nearly on the verge of cracking the nation's Top 25 listings, as Bucknell is 6-5 on the season, with four of its five setbacks coming at the hands of nationally ranked teams.
Four of the Bison's 10 regular starters are nationally ranked in their respective weight classes, which will give Liberty another strong test on the mats.
