Amoo Named to All-Region Team
Darren Amoo earned his third postseason honor this afternoon, as the forward was named to the 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) South Atlantic Region team.
Amoo, a redshirt sophomore from Accra, Ghana, was selected to the squad's second team after leading Liberty, 12-5-3, with 14 goals and 33 points. His goal total led the Big South Conference, while the forward finished second in the conference in points.
Both totals rank among the program's all-time single season bests. Amoo's 2009 point total ties him for the fourth-best single-season ledger in school annals, while his goal tally ties him for fourth on the program's single-season goal list.
A first team All-Big South and ECAC All-Star selection, Amoo completed the season eighth in the country with .70 goals per game and 13th in the nation with 1.65 points per game. The forward was also named to the 2009 Big South All-Tournament team, as the Flames reached the championship game.
The forward helped Liberty record its third consecutive double digit season victory total in 2009. The Flames outscored their opponents, 43-11, this fall, ranking fifth nationally in scoring offense and team goals against average.
