Today's "Open Net" segment highlights sophomore Karen Blocker.

Today, the "Open Net" segment spotlights Karen Blocker, a sophomore from Bowie, Md.

Blocker has started 15 games in goal for the Lady Flames this season. She leads a Liberty defense that didn't allow a goal in 576:23 and tallied six shutouts during the stretch. Her 93 saves puts her tied for fifth place in Liberty history for most saves in a season.

Blocker, a graduate of Archbishop Spalding High School, is majoring in nursing at Liberty.

What is your favorite Bible verse and why?

Proverbs 16:9 – It comforts me knowing God has the details planned to fulfill the bigger picture perfectly.

What has been your favorite class at Liberty and why?

Anatomy and Physiology (Bio 211 and 212), because you learn how intricate the human body is.

I know it's not good for me, but I love to eat …

Chocolate! Any desserts, really, but I've got to have my chocolate.

What was the best movie you watched over the last year?
My Sister's Keeper – very sad, but awesome.

I came to Liberty because …
God opened up those doors. I actually didn't want to come to Liberty at first, but now I would have never changed it.

Share something about one of your teammates that someone outside the program would never know without you telling them.
Secrets, secrets. They are going to stay secrets. Right, Bekah?

If you could be somebody else for a day, who would you be and why?

A beach bum or ski bum… because I would have no responsibilities for a day.

The best part of being a Liberty student-athlete is …
The friends you make and the relationships you form.

My dream job would be …
A NICU nurse.

The team that I'm most looking forward to competing against this year is (and why) …

Coastal Carolina – to come back from last year's loss in the last 14 seconds.

What is the best book you have ever read (other than the Bible)?

Atonement.

If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?

Teleport – I could go anywhere, anytime. And see the world without traveling.

The TV show I can't live without watching each week is (and why) ...

America's Next Best Dance Crew, because those people are insane and so talented.

If I were named "Coach for a Day", I would make my coaches (and why) …

Supersets! They are terrible to do.

My favorite thing about being a part of the Liberty women's soccer team is (and why) …

The girls on my team. I could not have asked for better friends to spend my time with.

My personal goals this season are …
Allow less than eight goals this season and earn nine shutouts.

Nothing! I'm proud of all of my music.

What is the most exciting thing you did this summer?
Brazil trip! I traveled to Brazil with 10 LU soccer girls.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
Camping at Assateague Island, Md.

Do you have any pre-match habits/rituals, and what are they?
I listen to chill music and re-tie my shoes.

What is the best advice you have ever received, and who gave it to you?
"Keep your eye on the prize and on God, run as fast and hard as you can towards it. Then look beside you, and see who is running with as much effort as you. Hold on, and run together." It's cliché, I don't know who told me, but I like it for athletics and spiritual life.
