Following back-to-back top five finishes this fall, Robert Karlsson has been named this week's Big South Golfer of the Week.

Following his second-straight top five finish this fall, Liberty's Robert Karlsson was named the Big South's Men's Golfer of the Week, earlier today.

Karlsson (So., Kalmar, Sweden) finished the Davidson College Invitational in a three-way tie for fourth place, carding a six-over-par 222 (72-77-73) during the 54-hole event on Monday and Tuesday.

Karlsson's fourth-place finish, along with fellow teammate Chris Watters, helped the Flames finish the Davidson College Invitational two shots clear of the 12-team field.

Liberty captured the team title at the two-day tournament, firing a 32-over-par 896 (287-304-305). The team championship was the second for the Flames since Karlsson joined the roster last spring. The Swede also led Liberty to victory at last year's First Market Bank Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary, when he took home individual medalist honors after a one-under-par 141 (70-71).

This marks the second time in Karlsson's career he has been named Big South Golfer of the Week. He also took home the distinction on March 13, 2009, after he captured individual medalist honors as the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational.

Since joining the Flames' roster, Karlsson has placed inside the top five during seven out of nine regular-season events, including the pair of individual victories.

Karlsson enters Liberty's final fall event of the year, the Renaissance Invitational on Nov. 1-2, leading the team with a 74.7 season stroke average and a 73.4 career average, which spans 30 rounds of collegiate golf.
