Lady Flame Madison Short

As the 2009 season kicks into high gear, LibertyFlames.com will begin running a segment entitled "Open Net," giving women's soccer fans an in-depth look at members of this year's squad. Each spotlight will feature a different player, and the reports will run weekly over the remainder of the season.

Today, the "Open Net" segment kicks off by highlighting Madison Short, a freshman from Dallas, Texas.

Short, a midfielder for the Lady Flames, scored her first collegiate goal in Liberty's 2-1 victory over the Buccaneers of East Tennessee State on Aug. 30. She is also tied for third on the squad with three shots on the year.

Short graduated from Lake Highlands High School in the spring, where she was named first-team all-district all four years, and was honored as the District 9-5A Newcomer of the Year as a freshman. She is pursuing a degree in nursing at Liberty.
