South Carolina (286) holds a seven-stroke lead over host Virginia (292) through the first round at the 22nd Annual Cavalier Classic, at the par-72, 6,875-yard Birdwood Golf Course, located in Charlottesville, Va. Liberty (305) is in 14th place out of 18 teams after play concluded on Saturday.

Robert Karlsson (74) is tied for 28th at two over par. Preston Dembowiak (76) is tied for 46th along with teammate Jay Calvo (76) at four over par. Jordan Frye (79) and Jacob Singleton (83) round out the remaining Flame five. Chris Watter (71), as an individual, sits in ninth place after shooting one under par.

Josh Brock (67) from UNC Wilmington leads all individuals at five under par. N.C. State's Adam Hogue(68) is one stroke behind in second place as an individual and Kyle Stough (69) rounds out the top three at three under par, two strokes back.

Francis Marion (294) sits in third place, eight strokes behind the leader, while James Madison (295) rounds out the top four squads, nine strokes back.

The 22nd Annual Cavalier Classic, hosted by Virginia, will conclude with a final round on Sunday, at the Birdwood Golf Club.
