Three days after winning the most single-season matches in program history, the Liberty Lady Flames women's tennis has been ranked for the first time in its history in the ITA Weekly Team National Division I Rankings.

The Lady Flames are listed among the organization's rankings at No. 130. The program, which started in 2001, had not appeared in the rankings in its nine-year history.

Head Coach Chris Johnson's squad enters this week's Big South Women's Tennis Championship with a 14-6 overall record and a 6-1 Big South mark. With its win last Friday, the Lady Flames have posted the most victories in a season by a Liberty women's squad, besting the last season's win total of 13.

The Lady Flames begin the Big South Championship, Thursday in Rock Hill, S.C. The No. 2 seed for the second straight year, Liberty will face the No. 7 seed Gardner-Webb Bulldogs at the Winthrop Tennis Courts at Noon. The Lady Flames have won 10 consecutive matches entering Thursday match.
