The Liberty Lady Flames have earned the No. 2 seed for this week's Big South Women's Tennis Championship, which begins Thursday in Rock Hill, S.C. The seedings were determined with the conclusion of the conference regular season, yesterday.

Liberty, which has won 10 consecutive matches, garnered the No. 2 seed with a 6-1 Big South mark. The Lady Flames will play the No. 7 seed Garner-Webb Bulldogs at Noon, Thursday.

The Lady Flames enter the championship off of their best regular season in program history. Head Coach Chris Johnson's team has posted the most victories ever by a Liberty women's tennis team with a 14-6 overall record. Each of the six members of the Liberty singles line-up has won 11 or more contests this spring. Hannah Fick, who has won 13 straight singles matches, and Nadia Solomon-Burgess lead the Lady Flames with 14 victories each. 2008 Big South Player of the Year Jordan Jenkins has posted double-digit wins for the second straight season in No. 1 singles with a 12-6 mark. Last season, the Lady Flames also earned the No. 2 seed.

Host Winthrop will be the No. 1 seed for this week's championship. Winthrop finished the regular season with a 7-0 league mark and a 12-8 overall record. With the top seed, the Eagles earn a first round bye.

After Liberty in the No. 2 spot, Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina tied for third place in the conference standings with a 4-3 record. The Lady Bucs received the No. 3 seed due to its win over the Chanticleers during the season. UNC Asheville secures the fifth seed with a 3-4 conference mark. Radford and Gardner-Webb, both finishing with 2-5 marks in conference play, tied for the sixth spot. With its win over the Bulldogs earlier this season, Radford captured the No. 6 seed, while the Bulldogs are the No. 7 seed.

While Presbyterian finished eighth in the Big South standings at 0-7, the Blue Hose are not eligible for the Championship due to its transition to Division I.
