Liberty golfer Robert Karlsson is nationally ranked as an individual this week by two national golf media outlets. Karlsson is ranked No. 14 by GolfStat and No. 35 by Golfweek, making the freshman one of two Big South golfers currently earning Top 250 national individual rankings.

Karlsson (Kalmar, Sweden) joins Coastal Carolina's redshirt senior Zack Byrd as the only two golfers in the Big South to appear on GolfStat and Golfweek's Top 250 national rankings lists. Karlsson edges Byrd for the highest-ranked golfer on GolfStat's list, as the Chanticleers' golfer registers in at No. 18. Byrd, however, tops Karlsson at No. 19 on Golfweek's list.

This week's national ranking for Karlsson marks the first time in 15 years Liberty has had a golfer ranked this high. Karlsson joined the Flames in January and already has won two medalist honors at William & Mary's First Market Bank Intercollegiate and at USC Aiken's Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. In four collegiate tournaments, Karlsson has registered four Top 10 finishes, and earned Big South Choice Hotels Golfer of the Week accolades on March 14. The weekly award spanned two weeks and included the medalist victory at the USC Aiken tournament and a fifth-place finish at two-under at West Florida's Argonaut Invitational.

Karlsson and the Flames return to the links on Monday at Colorado's Stevinson Ranch Invite, hosted in Stevinson, Calif., located 25 miles south of Modesto.
