Randolph and Sekina Battle Back At Wolfpack Invitational

Lady Flames' Jonita Randolph and Dina Senkina each won two of three single matches in strong showing at the 2005 Residence Inn North/Wolfpack Invitational this past weekend.

18 teams participated in the three-day event, including four Big South Conference teams.

After dropping her first match of the tournament to eventual Flight A1 champion, Luisa Cowper of Armstrong Atlantic State, Randolph (Jr., Townville, S.C.) rebounded to down Wofford's Ellen Rogers in a tiebreaker, 5-7, 7-5 (10-4). She then, claimed the Flight A1 backdraw with a 3-6, 6-1, 11-9 win over Olya Batusla of East Tennessee.

Meanwhile, Senkina (Fr., Moscow, Russia) won her opening match in Flight B singles of the tournament by taking straight sets, 7-5, 6-1 over Auburn's Rita Pijusznyin. She then fell in three sets to Tara Byrne of East Tennessee State, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 in the next round. Senkina finished her singles contests by downing UNC Greensboro's Emily Wade in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5 in the backdraw.

The Lady Flames have a weekend off before competing at the Elon Fall Tennis Draw, Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8. Friday's session begins at 9 a.m.
