Terrell And Horn Named To Football Gazette Southeast All-Region Team
Honors continued to roll in for Flames' football players Zach Terrell and Jason Horn as the running back and defensive lineman have been named to the 2005 Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA I-AA Southeast All-Region team.
Last week, Terrell was named the VaSID Rookie of the Year, honoring the best freshman player in the Commonwealth of Virginia, while Terrell and Horn were both named to the VaSID second-team all-state squad which is composed of the best Division I players in the state.
Terrell (Fr., RB, Manassas Park, Va.) led the Flames and ranked second in the Big South Conference by rushing for 668 yards, averaging 60.7 rushing yards per contest. Terrell, who last month became the first player in school history to be named Big South Freshman of the Year, averaged 85.3 yards per game in three starts at running back against conference opponents, finishing the year ranked sixth in the league in total offense (722 yards/65.6 yards per game) and ranked second in the conference in all-purpose yards, averaging 83.6 yards per contest.
Horn (Jr., DL, Phoenix, Ariz.) started all 11 games on the defensive line in his first year at Liberty and ranked fifth on the team with 61 tackles and first among defensive linemen. He also led the squad with 13.0 tackles for a loss (47) and ranked first in the conference in tackles for a loss among defensive linemen, while leading the league in tackles for a loss per game (1.17).
