Spartans Hand Lady Flames Loss In Five

After winning the first two games, Liberty allowed UNC Greensboro to take the next three as the Spartans downed the Lady Flames 3-2 (27-30, 28-30, 31-29, 30-28, 15-8) Tuesday evening in the Vines Center.

With the victory, UNC Greensboro improves to 5-23, while Liberty falls to 8-21.

Leading the way for the Lady Flames was Jessica Nelson (So., Tokyo, Japan) as she collected a match-high 21 kills and had nine digs. Lara Barotolomeo (So., Huntington Beach, Calif.) recorded a match-high 61 assists and posted 12 digs, the fourth time this season she has recorded 60 or more assists. Mary Alice Pike (So., Durham, N.C.) tallied a season-high 18 kills, while Allison Hallock (Sr., Irvine, Calif.) led the way defensively with 25 digs.

For UNC Greensboro, Lauren Keiser posted a double-double with 19 kills and 16 digs, while Hilary Overby almost duplicated the effort with 18 kills and 16 digs. Adrian Hicks recorded a team-high 59 assists and Alysia Rosvold collected a match-high 31 digs.

Neither team hit particularly well as the Spartans hit .196 and the Lady Flames only hit .148 for the match.

Liberty will be back in action this Friday as they celebrate Senior Night and host in-state rival Radford for both teams' regular season finale. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
