Charlotte's Abbey Szlanfucht had 20 kills and 19 digs, pacing five players with double-figure kill totals to lead the Charlotte volleyball team past Liberty 3-1 (26-30, 26-30, 30-28, 28-30) on Tuesday night at Halton Arena.

Liberty (8-18) was led by Autum Poorman, who had 15 kills on .500 hitting, adding six block assists.

The Flames won the third game, 30-28, thanks in part to 11 hitting errors by the Niners. Six of those came off Liberty blocks.

Szlanfucht led all players with 20 kills, while Lisa Newell (16), Cori Dayton (13), Jessica Oldenburg (11) and Lynae Mulder (10) also notched double-digit kill totals.

Mulder tied her career high with 10 kills, doing it on remarkably efficient .571 hitting. She did not make a hitting error until late in the third game. Lyane also added two blocks, including one solo.

Dayton added 12 digs for her first double-double of the season, as Charlotte improved to 16-13 overall with their ninth non-conference win of the year.

Setter Eden Ramos had 61 assists, while freshmen Courtney Cowles and Kelly Schmidt each picked up a pair of service aces.

"We knew tonight's match would be tough because Charlotte is a good team," comment head coach Shane Pinder. "We've been fighting for confidence and towards the end of the match we got things rolling and I think we're on the right track."

Liberty returns to Big South action this Friday when they travel to Birmingham, Ala., to take on the Panthers of Birmingham-Southern at 7 p.m. in the Bill Battle Coliseum.
