The Liberty Flames men's tennis team took four of the five singles matches contested for a 4-2 victory over the Mary Washington Eagles, Sunday.

The Eagles staked themselves to a 1-0 lead, by taking two of the three doubles matches to open the match. Liberty's Louis Steyn and Juan Reyes took the No. 3 doubles contest, 8-6, over Bryce Parrish and Evan Groff. However, Mary Washington was able to win the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches, each by an 8-6 score, to claim the doubles point.

In singles, the Flames won four of the five matches for a 4-2 win. One match, the No. 3 contest, was not completed, as the outcome of the match had already been decided. Steyn got Liberty started with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over John James in No. 1 singles. Clay Cypert in No. 2 singles, Chad Simpson in No. 3 singles and Reyes in No. 6 singles each followed with straight set victories.
The victory runs Liberty's mark to 4-2 on the year. The Flames return to action on Friday at Appalachian State. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
