The Liberty Flames women's tennis team defeated the James Madison Dukes, 4-3, Saturday at the Greenbriar Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.

Liberty, which evened its record at 1-1 on the young season, fell behind 1-0 after three tightly contested doubles matches. The Lady Flames' pairing of Jordan Jenkins and Hannah Fick won an 8-6 victory over Kristin Nimitz and Rebecca Erickson of James Madison, 8-6. However, the Dukes took the No. 2 and No. 3 matches to claim the doubles point. In the No. 2 contest, James Madison's Anna Khoor and Kinsey Pate edged the Liberty combination of Lais Souza and Stephanie Brown by the thinnest of margins, by winning a tiebreaker for a 9-8 (1) victory.

In singles, the Lady Flames were victorious in four of the six matches to claim the match victory. Jordan Jenkins at No. 1, Souza at No. 4 and Nadia Solomon-Burgess at No. 5 won straight set matches for Liberty. In her No. 3 singles contest, Brown was victorious 6-4 in her first set against James Madison's Nimitz, before dropping the second set 6-2. However, the sophomore rallied in the third, taking the final set, 6-4, for the win.

The Liberty women's tennis team returns to action today at the Greenbriar Resort with an afternoon match with Richmond.
