Liberty Flames Joshua Boateng, Mike Gelatt and Juan Guzman have been selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division I Men's Soccer All-South Atlantic Region teams. The squads were announced this morning.

Boateng was named to the region's first team, while teammates Gelatt and Guzman received third-team selections. It is the second all-region mention for Boateng and Guzman. Gelatt was selected all-region for the first time in his career.

Boateng (Accra, Ghana) was a first-team All-Big South performer in his final season at Liberty. The forward/midfielder compiled 32 points on 13 goals and six assists during the year, tying him for fifth on the program's single-season points list. His 13 goals also tie him for sixth on the Liberty single-season goal list. The Hermann Trophy candidate ranked 12th in the nation in points per game (1.78) and 13th in goals per game (0.72). Boateng led the Big South in points per game, goals per game and was tied for first in game-winning goals with five. Last season, the senior was named to the region's third team.

Gelatt (Indianapolis, Ind.) garners his first All-South Atlantic Region honor. A senior, Gelatt became the first Liberty student-athlete to be selected to two ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America first teams. He was named to the men's soccer Academic All-American teams in both 2007 and 2008. The defender earned selection to the Big South All-Conference first team for the second consecutive year, and this season was named the 2008 Big South Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He closed out his career by starting 60 consecutive contests for the Flames. Gelatt received a starting nod for every Liberty contest over the past three seasons.

Guzman (Charlotte, N.C.), a junior, battled through injury this season to tally four points with a goal and two assists in 11 games. He returned in the second half of the season to bolster the Liberty midfield, starting six games. In 2007, Guzman also garnered a third-team all-region mention.

For the second consecutive year, Liberty won 10 games in a season, finishing with a 10-5-3 mark. It is the first time since 1998 and 1999 that the Flames have posted two consecutive 10-win seasons. Liberty completed its season on an eight-game unbeaten streak (5-0-3). It is currently the fourth-longest unbeaten run in the country.
