The Liberty women's basketball team has been assigned to a four-team Preseason WNIT consolation bracket at Western Carolina. The Lady Flames will play two games next weekend, beginning with a 5 p.m. Friday contest versus UC Riverside.

Friday's second game will pit host Western Carolina versus Lafayette, at 7:30 p.m. Next Saturday's two games are slated to tip off at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday's two winning teams will square off in one contest, with the two losing teams meeting in the other Saturday tilt. Western Carolina will play at 7 p.m. Saturday, regardless of its opening-day result. All four weekend contests will be played at the Ramsey Regional Activity Center in Cullowhee, N.C.

Liberty (0-1), will be seeking its first win of the season and its first-ever victory in the Preseason WNIT. Despite Megan Frazee's 28 points and 11 rebounds, the Lady Flames dropped a hard-fought, 59-57 decision to VCU, Friday at the Vines Center. The Lady Flames' opponent, UC Riverside (0-1), fell to No. 4/7 Oklahoma, 88-57, during the opening round.

Liberty and UC Riverside have never met on the hardwood. The Highlanders, coached by John Margaritis, were picked to win the Big West Conference title, and seniors Kemie Nkele and Seyram Gbewonyo both made the preseason all-conference squad.
