Flames Fall To Radford In Big South Opener

The Radford Highlanders defeated the Liberty Flames', 6-1, in the Flames' Big South opener, Thursday afternoon at the E.C. Glass High School Tennis Courts.

The Flames drop to 0-4 and 0-1 in the Big South play, while the Highlanders improve to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Radford swept the three doubles matches to earn the first point of the day.

In the singles, they would then take five of six matches, all in straight sets to claim the match victory. Sebastian Pena (So., Santiago, Chile) was the lone winner on the day, winning in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5), 0-6, 10-8, in #6 singles.

The Flames continue Big South match play on Saturday at Coastal Carolina. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
