Meet the New Lady Flames: Amber Mays
Mays, a 5-6 point guard from Pasadena, Calif., will help fill the shoes of the graduated Allyson Fasnacht. The transfer from State Fair Community College will also add some needed experience to the Lady Flames' squad, which contains eight freshmen and sophomores. Mays is the only junior listed on this year's roster.
Mays excelled during her two seasons at State Fair, earning honorable mention NJCAA All-America honors both years. As a freshman, she ranked second in the conference in assists (4.6 apg) and third in steals (3.3 spg).
Mays was named her team's defensive player of the year four times at Pasadena High School. As a senior, she averaged 15 points, seven assists and five steals per outing, leading her team to the Pacific League title.
Coach Carey Green on Mays
"Amber is our most exciting new personality on the court. She loves to play defense and will accept any challenge. Amber will be counted upon to provide high energy throughout the season. She brings experienced with an unsurpassed desire to win."
