Meet the New Lady Flames: Danika Dale
Dale, a lanky yet athletic 6-1 guard, will provide valuable versatility for the Lady Flames this season. She displayed exceptional rebounding ability during her career at Shoemaker High School in Killeen, Texas, averaging 11.0 rebounds per contest as a senior. Meanwhile, Dale also possesses a deft shooting touch, as evidenced by her 45 percent three-point field goal percentage, 52 percent overall field goal percentage and 75 percent free throw percentage during her junior campaign.
As a senior, Dale averaged a double-double, posting 17.4 points per game to go along with her 11.0 rebounds per outing. As a result, she was voted district MVP. Dale was also named team MVP at Shoemaker during each of her final two seasons.
Dale was the first Shoemaker High School girls' basketball player ever to earn a NCAA Division I athletic scholarship. She is the second Texas native to join the Lady Flames in the last two seasons, as sophomore point guard Rachel McLeod hails from Houston.
Coach Carey Green on Dale
"Danika was a high school all-star performer in Texas and is capable of playing both inside and outside. Her primary strength, though, is at the ‘3' position. Danika brings athleticism and an exciting skill set to our team."
