Former Liberty men's soccer standout Osei Telesford scored a first-half goal, helping the Puerto Rico Islanders to earn a 2-2 draw with Panama's Tauro FC, last Wednesday.

With the tie, Telesford's Islanders earn a place in the CONCACAF Champions League regional championship's quarterfinals, where they're joined by fellow United States League 1 team Montreal Impact.

Puerto Rico and Tauro finished behind Group D winner Santos of Mexico tied with eight points, but the Islanders won the tiebreaker, because they beat Tauro 2-1 in their first meeting, and also scored more away goals.

In last Wednesday's game, Puerto Rico took a 16th minute lead when Telesford nodded in a free kick at the far post after it had been tipped on its way through the penalty area. It was Telesford's third goal in the competition.

Telesford, a native of San Jose, Trinidad, was a four-time All-Big South Conference team member during his time with the Flames.
