Brittany Campbell is the first Lynchburg-area player to suit up for the Lady Flames since the 2002-03 season.

Six new players dot the 2008-09 Liberty women's basketball team roster, including one junior college transfer and five freshmen. LibertyFlames.com will provide an introduction to each newcomer, leading up to the team's Nov. 14 season opener against VCU. The series continues today with freshman guard Brittany Campbell.

Scouting Report
Campbell, a 5-11 guard, was a two-sport (basketball and volleyball) standout at Brookville High School, located just outside Lynchburg. She is the first Lady Flame to hail from the greater Lynchburg area since Tekita Butler, a Heritage High School graduate who played for Liberty in 2002-03.

One of the best shooters on the Lady Flames' roster, Campbell scored 1,202 points during her high school career and connected on 87.3 percent of her free throw attempts as a senior. She helped the Bees go 98-11 while a member of the varsity girls' basketball team.

Campbell also starred at middle blocker for the Brookville volleyball team, which made three consecutive Group AA state final four appearances. She was voted class president all four years of high school and graduated 12th in her senior class with a 4.18 GPA.

Coach Carey Green on Campbell
"Brittany is an exemplary Liberty player. She possesses a winning desire and intensity, along with the skills of a champion. She is a scoring threat who understands the game very well. Brittany will be a positive contributor throughout her career in many areas."

Beyond the Court with Brittany
If I were Liberty's chancellor for a day, the first thing I would do is …
Allow freshmen to park on East Campus, next to their dorms.

If I could add one game to Liberty's schedule, it would be …
Against Richmond, because two of my best friends play there.

If you could play against anyone in any sport, who would it be and why?
Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh, because I played volleyball in high school, and would love to play doubles in my future.

A couple things on my "Bucket List" include …
Going to Europe, shopping in New York City, going to the Mall of America and vacationing for more than one week.

What is your favorite month of the year and why?
My favorite month would be May/June, because it's the beginning of summer and presents lots of tanning opportunities!

I came to Liberty because …
I knew this is where God wanted me to be. I was also the "towel girl" for about four years when I was younger, and have been attending Lady Flames basketball camps since I was eight years old.

My favorite spot on campus is …
The third floor of DeMoss Hall.

My best basketball memory is …
EVERYTHING about my senior high school basketball season. I have a lot of memories and great friendships that will last a lifetime.

Who is your favorite Bible character and why?
Job is my favorite Bible character, because he had everything taken away from him, and he still remained faithful unto the Lord.

What was the most exciting thing you did this past summer and why?
Going to the beach with my best friend, because I had been in summer school all summer long, and I got to catch up on some reading.

One of my favorite quotes is …
"I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds my future."

My favorite person to talk to is …
My mom.
