Pettersson Among Leaders After Day One

Liberty's Tobias Pettersson shot a 69 in round one on Monday, placing him in fifth place and just two strokes off the lead in Old Dominion's Seascape Collegiate, at the par-70, 6,131-yard Seascape Golf Club in Kitty Hawk, N.C.

Liberty (297) currently sits in 10th place out of 15 teams, but is only 12 strokes behind tournament leader Campbell (285). Chris Watters (72) currently is tied for 20th place, while Preston Dembowiak (77) is tied for 49th. Rounding out the Liberty five are Nathan Schenz-Davis (79) and Sang Chun (79) both at nine over par.

Cole Turner (67) of George Washington leads all golfers at three under par. Jim Bea of St. Joseph's, Jayson Judy of Elon and Sean Goshert of Radford all turned in a scorecard of 68, tying for second. Chris Scialo of Towson and Jake Katz of Binghamton are tied with Pettersson for fifth, two strokes behind Turner with scores of 69.

Campbell (285), who won the event in 2002 and 2006, narrowly leads the pack. Radford (287) is two strokes behind, while Elon (288) sits in third place, three strokes back.

Old Dominion's Seascape Collegiate will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday at the Seascape Golf Club in Kitty Hawk, N.C.
