Newcomer Jarda Trojan had a strong showing as the Liberty men's tennis team opened their 2005 fall schedule this past weekend at the University of Mary Washington Kickoff Classic.

After transferring to Liberty this fall, Trojan (So., Prague, Czech Republic) had a solid first weekend as a Flame. Playing in Flight 2 singles and Flight 1 doubles, Trojan went undefeated on the weekend taking all three of his singles matches, while partnering with Priit Pihl (Sr., Saue, Estonia) to win all three of their doubles contests.

"Jarda had an excellent weekend by going undefeated in all of his matches," stated Liberty Coach Larry Hubbard. "If he continues to improve, he should prove to be a wonderful addition to our team."

The results from all the matches on the weekend are available by clicking on the UMW Kickoff Results link on the upper right hand side of the page.

The Flames will continue their fall tournament schedule this weekend by competing in the Old Dominion Fall Tournament in Norfolk, Va. The three-day event gets underway on Friday at 9 a.m. and runs throughout the weekend.
