The Liberty women's tennis team competed at the Sergio Tacchini Collegiate Invitational at Old Dominion's Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center, over the weekend.

With many of the Lady Flames battling injuries and illness, Liberty's efforts were highlighted by the play of Stephanie Brown. The sophomore split a pair of matches in B3 singles. Brown defeated Pitt's Minah Evans 6-2, 6-2, before falling to Old Dominion's Margarita Spicin, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles, the Florida native teamed with Hannah Fick to take two of three matches in the B2 bracket. After Brown and Fick fell to Penn State's Sarah Lotto and Monika Mical in their opening match, 8-5, the pair bounced back to defeat Villanova's Dani Phillis and Courtney Reed, 8-6, and finished the tournament with an 8-2 win over Emily and Mellissa Lewis of Drexel.

Senior Ekaterina Kuznetsova, Fick and Fabiana Gouveia each went 1-1 on the weekend in singles.

The Lady Flames return to action on Oct. 31 at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
