The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers scored two first half goals en route to a 3-1 win over the Liberty Flames in Big South Conference men's soccer action, Saturday afternoon, at CCU Soccer Field.

In the final regular season and conference game for both teams, Coastal Carolina jumped out 2-0 first half lead on two goals by senior Jordie Hughes.

Hughes opened the scoring off a through ball from Joseph Kabwe from ten yards out at 30:38.  The two then connected less than a minute later for the match's second goal as Hughes netted his second goal of the afternoon off a give and go at the top of the box with Kabwe at 31:49.

Liberty cut into the lead at the 38:42 in the first as the Flames' leading scorer Adrian Bumbut (Jr., F, Zalau, Romania) scored his eighth goal of the season.  After a cross into the box was blocked by the Chanticleer keeper, Bumbut corralled the loss ball and put it into the open net to make it 2-1.

In the second, Coastal Carolina extended its lead to the final score of 3-1, when Lachlan Cahill scored from the left side from 23 yards out.

On the afternoon, the Chanticleers out-shot the Flames, 17-10, while holding the edge in corner kicks, 7-2.

Liberty goalkeeper Kevin Mahan (Sr., Waterford, Mich.) made three saves on the afternoon, while Coastal Carolina's Adam Weant recorded two.

The Flames, who came into the match having won three straight Big South Conference matches, fall to 6-7-2 overall and 4-2-1 in conference.  Coastal Carolina evens its record at 8-8-1 overall and moves to 5-2 in conference.

The match was the final game of the conference and regular season for both teams.  The two will now await the announcement of the seedings and pairings for the upcoming Big South Championship scheduled to begin Thursday afternoon in High Point, N.C.
