Flames Tune Up For Big South Outdoor Championship At Onesty/Abramson Invitational

Several members of the Flames' track and field program used the weekend for a final training run before competing in the upcoming Big South Outdoor Track Championships as a portion of the squad participated in the Lou Onesty/Milton G. Abramson Invitational.

The two-day event was hosted by Virginia at Lannigan Field and served as a final tune-up before the team travels to Conway, S.C., for the Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

On the women's side of the Onesty/Abramson Invitational, Kena Butts led the Lady Flames as she finished third in the high jump with a NCAA regional qualifying mark of 1.75 meters, while Sarah Roberts finished seventh in the 800 meters (2:15.67) and Arlene Zelinskas finished seventh in the 100 meter hurdles (14.09).

Markus Greenleaf led the men's squad by finishing fourth in the 100 meters (10.76), while Eric Lundy finished sixth in the triple jump (13.98 meters) and Matt Parker finished eighth in the long jump (6.90 meter).

Both Liberty's 4x100 meter relay squads recorded Top 5 finishes with the women's team finished second with a time of 46.71, while the men's team finished fourth with a time of 42.16.
