Liberty finishes first two rounds at Northwestern's Windon Memorial Golf Tournament.

Illinois golfer Matt Hoffman shot a 65 and a 70 to take the lead during Sunday's first two rounds of Northwestern's Windon Memorial Golf Tournament, at the par-71, 7,067-yard North Shore Country Club. Three groups were unable to finish due to darkness. Round two will resume at 7:30 a.m. on Monday morning, prior to the start of round three.

Liberty (599) was able to finish and is in 14th place out of 15 teams, 40 strokes behind tournament leader Illinois. Tobias Pettersson (145) is tied for 23rd at three over. Preston Dembowiak (151) is at nine over, while Jay Calvo (152) is at 10 over. Sang Chun and Nathan Schenz-Davis (157) round out the Flame five at 15 over.

Hoffman is contested by Kent State's John Hahn (138), three strokes back. Tulsa's Ryan Brooks (140), Peter Malnati (140) of Missouri and Derek Tolan (140) of Colorado currently share third place, at two under par.

Illinois (559) is the leader amongst teams that have finished round two. The Illini are at nine under par.

The Windon Memorial Tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Monday at the North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill.
