Liberty sophomore Preston Dembowiak has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Golfer of the Week.

Dembowiak (Summerfield, N.C.) carded a one -under par 215 (73-70-72) at South Alabama's Palmer's Toyota Fall Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday this week in Mobile, Ala., and finished 15th out of 87 golfers in the event. He was Liberty's top finisher for the second time in his career, and his second round 70 tied his career low, both of which came at East Carolina's Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate, April 4-6, 2008.

Dembowiak is the first Liberty Big South golfer of the week since redshirt junior Nathan Schenz-Davis took home the distinction in the Flames' opening tournament last season. Schenz-Davis was bestowed the honor roughly one year ago, on Sept. 21, 2007.

Liberty takes three weeks off before returning to the links at Northwestern's Windon Memorial Classic at the North Shore Country Club, in Glenville, Ill.
