Liberty Opens Season on the Links
South Alabama golfer Daniel Burns shot two rounds of 67 (134) during Monday's first day of South Alabama's Palmer's Toyota Fall Intercollegiate, at the par-72, 6,850-yard Azalea City Golf Club.

Liberty (586) sits in 10th place out of 13 teams. Preston Dembowiak (143), the Flames' top golfer on the opening day, is tied for 15th, nine strokes behind the leader. Tobias Pettersson (147) is tied for 38th, while Nathan Schenz-Davis (149) is tied for 48th. Jay Calvo (150) and Chris Watters (150) are tied for 52nd, while Stephen Dooley (152) rounds out the Liberty golfers, tied for 63rd.

Burns is contested by South Alabama teammate Marc-Etienne Bussieres, who finished the day three strokes back (137). Erik Barnes of Austin Peay rounds out the top three golfers at 138.

Host South Alabama (552) leads all teams, nine strokes ahead of second place Austin Peay (561). South Florida (569) rounds out the top three, 17 strokes behind the leader.

The Palmer's Toyota Fall Intercollegiate will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday at the Azalea City Golf Club in Mobile, Ala.
