The Liberty baseball team opened fall practice this afternoon at Worthington Stadium. Under the guidance of head coach Jim Toman and his staff, the Flames practiced for the first time as a full team, Tuesday afternoon.

Currently, Liberty has 34 players participating in fall drills, including 15 Flames who saw action during Liberty's 36-25 campaign in 2008.

Fall practice will run through Oct. 23. The team will train six days a week during the fall with Mondays off. Practice will culminate with two, three-game intra-squad "Super Regionals" at Worthington Stadium. Super Regional No. 1 is scheduled for Oct. 17-19. Super Regional No. 2 is slated to played Oct. 21-23.

In addition, Liberty will hold a Scout Night on Sept. 30, where players will be able to work out and display their skills for major league baseball scouts.

The weekend following fall practice, Oct. 24-25, the baseball program will host an Alumni Weekend. On the 24th, a golf outing and dinner are planned, while on the 25th, an Alumni Game is planned.
