Chelaine McCarty hit .551 during the Patriot Invitational, on her way to her second consecutive all-tournament team recognition.

For the second weekend in a row, Liberty junior Chelaine McCarty and sophomore Nicki Scripko were included on an all-tournament team. Both players were recognized, after leading the Lady Flames to three victories at Friday and Saturday's Patriot Invitational.

Liberty finished the tournament as one of two unbeaten squads, and is now 6-0 to open the 2008 season. New Mexico also emerged unscathed, winning all four of its weekend tilts.

McCarty (MB, Houston, Ala.) hit .551 for the weekend and ranked second on the Lady Flames' roster with 30 kills. She posted a .750 attack percentage with nine kills during Friday's 3-0 sweep of Saint Francis (Pa.). Her efforts helped Liberty set a new school single-match record with a .483 team attack percentage versus the Red Flash. For the year, McCarty leads the team in both kills (41) and attack percentage (.398).

Scripko (OH, Fayetteville, N.C.) made the all-tournament team despite battling illness throughout the weekend. She only appeared in seven of Liberty's 11 sets, but totaled 26 kills and 12 digs, while hitting .358. Scripko's most impressive outing came during Saturday's come-from-behind win over Rutgers. The sophomore sat out nearly the entire opening set, which Liberty dropped. Scripko then posted 17 of her match-high and season-high 18 kills during the final three sets, helping the Lady Flames finish off a 3-1 triumph over the Scarlet Knights. She also hit .500 with nine digs and a trio of service aces versus Rutgers.

Liberty will look to extend its season-opening unbeaten streak to seven Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., when the Lady Flames travel to James Madison. The Dukes will enter the match with a 2-5 record.
