Liberty's Jordan Jenkins has been named the 2008 VaSID Rookie of the Year and to the all-state singles first team.

Liberty's Jordan Jenkins has been voted the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Women's Tennis University Division All-State Rookie of the Year and was also tabbed as a member of the first-team singles roster, the organization announced today.

Jenkins (Sarasota, Fla.) becomes the first Liberty tennis player to garner the state's rookie of the year nod and makes it three-straight seasons, the Lady Flames have placed a player on the all-state team. Former Lady Flame Jonita Randolph was selected to the second team the two previous seasons.

Jenkins took home both the Big South Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year awards in her first season of collegiate tennis. She posted a 16-1 mark on the year playing at No. 1 singles for Liberty. The freshman won 16 straight matches this spring, leading the Lady Flames to the best season mark in the program's history at 13-4.

A Big South all-conference first team member, Jenkins' individual winning streak helped propel the Lady Flames on a program-high 12-match victory streak. Liberty also finished second in the conference standings with a 4-1 record, earning the Lady Flames their highest ever seed for the Big South Championships.

William & Mary, who was ranked No. 21 in the nation this season, swept the other major awards, as Megan Moulton-Levy was named Player of the Year for the third consecutive year, while Kevin Epley won Coach of the Year honors in the Commonwealth for the second straight year.
