The Liberty Lady Flames volleyball team finished its spring tournament season with a 1-2 showing at the James Madison tournament this past Saturday.

Liberty opened the day strong, winning the first game in its match against the home team. However, the Dukes came back in the second two games to claim the match, 2-1. Redshirt sophomore Kirstyn Sanders led the Lady Flames' offense, hitting .400 in the match, while outside hitter Jessica Nelson and sophomore Nicki Scripko recorded seven digs apiece to spearhead the defense.

Liberty next faced off against George Mason. The Lady Flames dominated the first two games of the match, but lost the third in a closely contested game. Nelson put down 11 kills and hit .346 to seal the match for the team early. Middle blocker Ashley Webber added a .428 attack percentage. The Lady Flames served up four aces in the match. Defensively, the Liberty netters tallied five blocks and 34 digs.

The Lady Flames fought hard in match three of the tournament against Virginia Tech. Unfortunately, Liberty's 40 digs, 11 of which came from setter Kallie Corbin, and four blocks were not enough to stop the Hokies from taking the match, 3-0.
