With their best Big South Conference record in the history of the program, the Liberty Lady Flames have secured the No.2 seed for the upcoming 2008 Big South Women's Tennis Championship, beginning Thursday in Rock Hill, S.C. The Big South Conference office announced the seedings and the tournament's pairings late this evening, after receiving the results of the final regular season conference matches, which were completed earlier in the day.

Liberty, which completed conference play at 4-1, finished second in the regular season standings. The Lady Flames, who have won a school record 11-straight matches, will play No. 7 seed, UNC Asheville, in the second match of the day on Thursday. The match is set to begin at Noon. It will be the second meeting between the two teams within a week, as Liberty downed UNC Asheville, yesterday, 6-1. Liberty has posted a 12-3 overall mark, also the best in program history.

Winthrop, the host institution, claimed its seventh consecutive Big South Women's Tennis regular season title and the No. 1 seed with a 5-0 conference record. The Lady Flames and Eagles did not meet during the regular season due to inclement weather. After Liberty, Coastal Carolina and Charleston Southern tied for third place in the conference standings. The Lady Chanticleers received the No. 3 seed by virtue of their win over the Lady Buccaneers during the season. High Point, Radford and UNC Asheville round out the field.
