Sophomore Chad Simpson was the No. 3 singles winner on Sunday.

Coming off a strong performance against UNC Asheville yesterday evening, the Flames looked to end their regular season with one last home win. Liberty did just that, defeating the Winthrop Eagles, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at the Esbenshade-Hershey Tennis Courts.

The freshman/senior combination of Leandro Schjumann and Jarda Trojan put Liberty on the board, winning No. 2 doubles, 8-5. The Flames then captured the point by default due to a default in the No. 3 doubles contest.

In solo action, Chad Simpson took No. 3 singles, beating Wonthrop's Jose Pardo, 6-1, 6-3. Juan Reyes picked up another win for the Flames in No. 5 singles, besting Walter Basten in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Liberty's final point came by default in the No. 6 singles match to give the Flames the match victory.

With two conference wins under their belt, the Flames head to the Big South Men's Tennis Championship week in Rock Hill, S.C., beginning Thursday. Match times and rankings are to be announced.
