LU Places Second at Lacrosse Homes Collegiate
Final Tournament Results
The Liberty men's golf team finished in second place out of 19 squads at Towson's Lacrosse Homes Collegiate Invitational, played at the 6,761-yard, par-72 Prospect Bay Country Club, in Grasonville, Md., on Sunday.
The second and final round was delayed until 9:15 a.m. on account of frost. When play resumed, Liberty (600) matches its round one score, finishing two strokes behind tournament champion Longwood (598). The Flames and Lancers entered the day tied for second.
Parker McKoy (147) entered the day in the lead, but shot a 77 in Sunday's round two, tying for fourth place at three-over par. Andrew Nelson (151) tied for 12th at seven-over par, while Nathan Schenz-Davis (152) and David Je (152) shared 14th place at eight-over par. Sang Chun rounded (154) out the Flame five at 10-over par.
UNC Greensboro (602) entered the day with the team lead, but shot a 303 on day two, falling to a third-place finish, four strokes behind Longwood. Loyola College (609) and James Madison (614) rounded out the top five team finishers.
Michael Mulieri (144) shot a tournament-low 69 Sunday to grab medalist honors, finishing the tournament even. Brett Chambers (146) of Longwood and Dan Abbondandolo (146) of Siena tied for second at two-over par, while Brent Davis (147) of Towson and Michael Young (147) of Longwood joined McKoy in fourth place.
Liberty hits the links again on April 6 at East Carolina's Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate.
