Brock Smith and the Flames will kick off their 2008 spring practice season on Thursday evening.

Just under 160 days until the opening of the 2008 football season, the Flames football program will begin preparation to defend their Big South title, Thursday evening, when Liberty opens spring practice at Williams Stadium.

The first of 15 spring practice sessions allowed by the NCAA is slated to begin at 7 p.m. Seven of the 15 practices will be held under the lights at Liberty's home 12,000-seat, on-campus facility, a site where Liberty maintains the nation's longest FCS home winning streak at eight straight.

The run of 15 practices will culminate with Liberty's annual spring game on April 19. Kick off for the intra-squad scrimmage is scheduled for 1 p.m.

All of Liberty's practice sessions are free of charge and open to the general public.
