Liberty's Brandon Hoskins and Jaime Watson have swept the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's and Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards, the conference announced today.

Hoskins (Sr., Garden City, Texas) won his second conference heptathlon title in as many weeks, emerging with the IC4A crown last Sunday. Also the Big South heptathlon victor, Hoskins totaled 5,353 points in Boston and helped the Flames to a second-place overall finish at the meet.

Across town at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, Watson (R-So., Ravenna, Mich.) was busy tearing up the track in the 800-meter run. She opened the meet with a Liberty and Big South-record time of 2:08.34 during last Saturday's preliminaries, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships. The following day, Watson raced to first place in the 800-meter final, clocking a 2:10.63. She became only the second Lady Flame (also current assistant coach Heather (Sagan) Zealand) ever to win a running event at the ECAC indoor meet.

Hoskins and Watson will open the 2008 outdoor track & field season this Friday and Saturday, at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Conway, S.C. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Friday, with the men's hammer and women's javelin.
