Frazee Named Big South Player of the Week
Frazee (Xenia, Ohio) averaged 22.5 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest last week. She also shot 53.8 percent from the floor and 88.2 percent from the foul line, as the Lady Flames defeated conference rivals Radford and Winthrop.
On Feb. 6, Frazee totaled 26 points and a career-high 18 rebounds during the Lady Flames' 63-50 triumph at Radford. She was at her best during the second half, totaling 20 points and 12 boards after the intermission.
Frazee's rebounding total against the Highlanders was the most by a Big South player this year and the most by a Lady Flame since Katie Feenstra's 19 boards against UNC Asheville on Feb. 12, 2005. The junior also went 9-for-9 at the free throw line, the best single-game effort by a Liberty player since Michelle Wyms shot 14-for-14 versus Radford on Feb. 3, 1996.
The Ohio native recorded a game-high 19 points and eight rebounds on Feb. 9, contributing to the Lady Flames' 69-55 home decision over UNC Asheville. She had 15 points and seven caroms before halftime, helping Liberty lead from wire to wire.
For the season, Frazee leads the Big South in scoring (17.9 ppg) and free throw percentage (.867) and ranks second in rebounding (8.9 rpg). She is listed No. 17 nationally in free throw percentage and No. 37 in scoring.
Frazee previously won the Big South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award on Nov. 26, Jan. 7 and Jan. 21 this season. She has captured the honor 10 times in her career, making her one of only three Big South players ever to win the award that often. Former Liberty standouts Feenstra and Elena Kisseleva garnered 15 and 11 Big South Women's Basketball Player of the Week awards, respectively.
Liberty's next contest will be a Saturday match-up with Coastal Carolina. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Vines Center. The Lady Flames defeated the Chanticleers by a 71-44 count on the road on Jan. 21.
