Liberty's Andrew Turner carded a six-under par 66 on Sunday that enabled the Flames' senior to claim individual medalist honors at the Drew Upton Memorial Tiger Golf Classic, while Liberty finished third out of 22 teams in the two-day event.

Turner was one of four players on the day to fire a round below 70, while the season-best round for Turner allowed the senior to climb from a tie for 18th place after the completion of the first round to the top of the leaderboard at the conclusion of the event.

Turner finished the two-day tournament with a six-under par 138 (72-66), giving him a one stroke edge over Army's Austin Luher, who led after the first day, but finished the tournament with a five-under par 139 (67-72).

Turner's strong finish enabled the Flames to claim third place out of 22 teams as Liberty finished the 36 hole event with a six-over par 582 (290-292), while Richmond won the team trophy by carding an even par 576 (283-293).

Also placing for the Flames was Peter Horstman, who finished tied for 19th with a one-over par 145 (72-73), Jay Calvo, who finished tied for 43rd with a five-over par 149 (72-77), Albie Powers, who finished tied for 54th with a six-over par 150 (74-76) and Parker McKoy, who tied for 71st place with an eight-over par 152 (74-78).

Michael Turner, the younger brother of Andrew Turner, also found success at the par 72, 7,047 yard Great Hope Golf Course as he finished tied for 19th with a one-over par 145 (74-71) as the freshman completed in the event as an individual.

The Flames will have one final tune-up before competing in the Big South Men's Golf Championship as Liberty will travel to Princeton, N.J. to compete in the Princeton Invitational at the Springdale Golf Club on April 8-9.
