Tim Harner was 3-0 on the day, with all three wins by fall to help Liberty claim three victories in a quad meet, hosted in the Schilling Center.

Tim Harner pinned all three of his opponents, while Patrick Walker posted a 3-0 record on the day, helping Liberty claim three wins on Saturday in a dual wrestling meet held in the Schilling Center.

Liberty opened with a 25-19 victory over Davidson, before suffering a 25-9 setback to Bucknell. However, the Flames responded by taking their last two duals with a 30-15 victory over Messiah and a 22-12 win over The Citadel to close out the afternoon.

In other action on the mats, The Citadel defeated Messiah (32-9), Messiah downed Davidson (28-18) and Bucknell defeated The Citadel (22-12). On the afternoon, Liberty posted a 3-1 record, Bucknell was 2-0, while The Citadel and Messiah were each 1-2.

With the trio of victories on the afternoon, the Flames raise their season dual record to 6-9-1. However, the loss to Bucknell was the first home setback during Liberty head coach Jesse Castro's tenure. Coming into the afternoon, the Flames were 5-0-1 in dual matches held on Liberty Mountain during his first two years at the helm of the program.

Harner, at 141 pounds, paced the way for Liberty with three wins, all coming by fall to give the grappler a team best eight pins on the year. Heavyweight Walker followed behind him with a trio of wins to raise his season record to 20-9.

Also posting multiple victories during the all-day event for the Flames were T.J. Mitchell at 133 pounds (2-2), Shaun Smith at 157 pounds (2-1), Chad Porter at 165 pounds (2-1) and Aaron Kelley at 174 pounds (2-1).

The Flames return to the wrestling mats next Sunday when Liberty travels to Millersville, Pa., to participate in the Eastern Regional Duals. The one-day event will serve as a preview for the NCAA East Regional Qualifiers the Flames are hosting in the Vines Center nearly a month later on March 9.

Liberty 25, Davidson 19

The two teams traded three points to open the match. Davidson's Ben Altman picked up a 7-1 decision win over Liberty's Sean Katz at 125 pounds, while T.J. Mitchell evened the score at 3-3 with a 6-2 decision over Alex Radsky at 133 pounds.

At 141 pounds, Tim Harner picked up his sixth win by fall on the year, pinning the Wildcats' Jack Templeton in the second period (4:13) to give Liberty a 9-3 advantage. Carl Sandercock trimmed the Wildcats' deficit in half, 9-6, with a 4-0 decision over Sam Walters at 149.

The Flames took the next two weight classes starting with a 17-3 major decision win by Shaun Smith at 157, as the sophomore dominated the match from the opening whistle. The following win was Liberty's second pin of the match. Chad Porter pinned Kevin Cook in the first period (2:43) to stake Liberty to a 19-6 lead.

The Wildcats came back with wins during the next two bouts. A major decision win by Trebor Clavette over Joseph Son at 174 pounds, followed by Sam O'Hair's 7-0 decision win over Nick Knowles pulled Davidson within six points, 19-13, at 184.

The final two weight classes were forfeited with Jacobi Johnson picking up a win for Liberty at 197 and Charlie Wolff claiming victory at heavyweight for Davidson.

Bucknell 25, Liberty 9
The Bison opened with a pair of decision wins, started with a 6-2 victory by Greg Hart over Sean Katz at 125. David Marble, who currently ranks No. 15 nationally, gave Bucknell a quick 6-0 lead with a hard fought 7-5 win over T.J. Mitchell at 133 pounds.

Tim Harner got his second-straight win by fall, pinning Bucknell's Luke Chohany in the first period (1:57) to even the team score at 6-6 at 141. Kevin LeValley put Bucknell back on top, 10-6, at 149 pounds with a 10-0 major decision over Scott Clymer.

The Bison extended their lead with an extra period win at 157 pounds. Brantley Hooks used a takedown late in the third and another early in overtime for a 4-2 decision over Shaun Smith to give Bucknell a 13-6 lead.

At 165, the Bison sent their second nationally-ranked grappler to the mats in No. 19 Andy Rendos. The sophomore went on to pick up a 9-4 decision win over Chad Porter.

Bucknell continued its roll, winning the next three weight match-ups, before Patrick Walker halted the Bison's run of six-straight wins with a 4-0 decision at heavyweight. In total, Bucknell claimed victory in eight out of the 10 weight classes, revenging a 25-24 loss last year to the Flames at home in Davis Gym.

Liberty 30, Messiah 15
The Flames opened the match-up with the Falcons with three-straight wins, including the first two by fall. Sean Katz pinned Andrew Clark 1:14 into the 125-pound bout, but was bettered by teammate T.J. Mitchell who pinned John Ayers in 40 seconds at 133 pounds.

Collin Lewis kept things rolling for Liberty by picking up his first victory of the afternoon in an 11-5 decision over Matt Bradshaw at 141 pounds to give Liberty a sizeable 15-0 lead.

Craig Gin got Messiah on the scoreboard, claiming his second win of the day with a victory by fall late in the third period (6:40), trimming Liberty's lead to nine, 15-6.

The two squads traded victories over the next two weight classes. Liberty added to its lead, when Julian Colon scored two points late in the third period to break a tie and take a 7-5 decision over Mike Bressler at 157.

The Falcons got their second pin in three matches at 165 pounds, when Trent Zempel won his third-straight match of the day with a win by fall in the first period (2:48) over Liberty's Joseph Son. The victory cut Liberty's lead to six, 18-12, with four bouts to go.

The Flames claimed victory during three of those four matches, concluding with Patrick Walker's win by fall (1:02) to secure the 15-point victory.

Liberty 22, The Citadel 12
The Bulldogs won the first two bouts of the day's final match-up. Tyler Sim claimed a 5-1 decision over Sean Katz at 125, followed by an 8-2 decision win by Anthony Easter over T.J. Mitchell at 133 pounds to give The Citadel a 6-0 lead.

However, as he did against Bucknell earlier in the day, Tim Harner got a first-period pin (2:12) to even the match, 6-6, at 141 pounds. It was Harner's third win by fall in as many matches on the afternoon.

Scott Clymer got his first win of the day with an 8-2 decision win over Derek Royster at 157 pounds to give the Flames their first lead in the dual, 9-6. Shaun Smith kept things rolling for the Flames with a 6-4 decision at 157 pounds, fighting off an injury for a 12-6 Liberty advantage.

Chad Porter picked up an 8-0 major decision win at 165 pounds, followed by Aaron Kelley's 6-4 decision at 174 pounds, giving Liberty a 19-6 lead.

Darius Caldwell ended Liberty's run of five-straight wins with a 6-3 decision over Chris Daggett at 184 pounds, while John Buck picked up a 6-0 decision over Nick Knowles at 197 pounds to trim Liberty's margin to seven, 19-12.

However, Patrick Walker secured Liberty's third dual victory on the afternoon with an 8-1 decision win over The Citadel's Aaron Bruce at heavyweight to wrap up action in the Schilling Center.
