Coming off one of the best fall seasons in squad history, the Liberty women's tennis team has been predicted to finish fourth in the Big South Conference standings this spring, in the league's annual preseason poll announced earlier this afternoon. The poll is voted on by the conference's head women's tennis coaches and sports information directors.

The Lady Flames received 52 points, including one first-place vote, in being picked fourth. Liberty returns team captain and all-conference doubles performer Martyna Hanusz (Sr., Stola Wala, Poland) along with junior Ekaternia Kuznetsova (Kraznogorsk, Russia). They will be joined by a freshman class which was listed in The Tennis Recruiting Network's Top 25 Mid-Major recruiting classes this past summer.

Winthrop was chosen to capture the Big South Conference's women's crown in April, garnering nine first-place votes and 93 of a possible 98 total points. The Lady Eagles have won the Big South title 10 times.

The Lady Flames kick off their 2007 schedule by traveling to Morgantown, W.Va., for a match with West Virginia on Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. The season is scheduled to conclude at the Big South Conference Women's Tennis Championship, April 17-19 on the campus of Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C.
