High-scorer Devon Brown is the latest addition to the 2008-09 Liberty Lady Flames baskeball roster.

Liberty Head Women's Basketball Coach Carey Green has added a talented scorer to his current recruiting class, which now numbers five players. Devon Brown, a shooting guard/small forward from Waynesboro, Va., has signed a national letter of intent for the 2008-09 academic year.

Brown stands 5-10 and is projected to play on the wing, even though she is a standout post player for the Waynesboro High School Little Giants. As a junior, Brown posted 29 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and two blocked shots per contest, earning first-team all-district, all-region and all-state accolades.

She is already Waynesboro's all-time leading scorer and enters her senior season with 1,812 points and 806 rebounds through her first three years of varsity action. Brown is on pace to break the VHSL Group AA career scoring record of 2,202 career points, a mark which has stood since 1980.

"We are excited to add another in-state all-star performer," remarked Green. "Devon's ability to score a lot of points quickly will be a great asset to our team. She has a burning desire to win and will vie for playing time at the swing position, due to her skills and resilience. We are thrilled to have her as a new addition to the Liberty family."

The list of the Lady Flames' incoming players for the 2008-09 season now includes Kylee Beecher (F, Roanoke, Va.), Brown, Brittany Campbell (G, Rustburg, Va.), Danika Dale (G, Killeen, Texas) and Amber Mays (G, Pasadena, Calif.).
